Artful practice

When I get to feeling junky, I go to the mystical arts (and crafts) that I practice (art-art, astrology, zen meditation/walkabouts, mediumship, writing, tarot and crafting talismanic items, oils and goods) and while I may not be fully healed - I always feel better. My spirit is nourished by them.

What’s your favorite art? What does your spirit seek for nourishment? What art (not necessarily art-art like drawing, but think of any practice you craft and cultivate) are you drawn to that refuels your passion and life force energy?

In astrology, we can see this most profoundly by the placement and transits of a few different planets.

Our moons tell us the story of our spirit and what it seeks for nourishment. These are instinctual and our primal go-to’s. For example, my Moon in Taurus finds nourishment in nature and being away from hustle and bustle. So when I’m feeling overwhelmed, my moon leads me to the trees for healing.

Neptune tells us an artful story too. Neptune is our storyteller of how we detach from the daily grind, where our spirit connects with the ethereal. For example, Neptune in the 9th house - astrology, intuiton, learning about origin stories and so forth.

Our Sun can also play a role in this storyline of ours. The Sun, among other indications, is the primary storyteller of what we are called to do, who we keep circling back to being in this life; no matter how many times we get off track. While jobs may come and go, partners in life may come and go, it is our own spirit that remains. This spirit speaks through our Sun and inspires us to get back up and find another way to express this calling, our “art” over again.

For example, Sun in the 5th house needs to create, to make things. This person may go through different iterations of this; first raising children, with an empty nest then fostering pups, then a craft business and so on.

Our spirit isn’t just one planet, one zodiac sign or one house in a chart. It’s all of it, of course. But through these main players we can get a good glimpse of our artful journey

What about you? What arts do you practice?
