A few minutes ago Mercury, the trickster planet, began his retrograde. Similar to late 2010, Mercury’s retrograde cycle begins as the quicksilver planet astrologically conjuncts Pluto in the Cardinal Earth sign of Capricorn. Pluto moves ever slowly and has languished in Capricorn since 2008. Capricorn is energy of the establishment, our material pursuits, stoicism and achievement. Pluto, the mythical Lord of Hades grinds slowly in Capricorn… Transforming the Capricornian landscape and the establishment and structure contained therein. With Mercury conjuncting Pluto and then retrograding back to 28 Sagittarius, this area in our charts is where we will find the focus of the typical “retrograde” happenings, re-everything, do-overs and the like.

Mercury is changeable in nature, he’s the day to day mental clarity we have at our fingertips, the daily hustle and bustle in our lives.

As seen after the similar 2010 Mercury retrograde, then came the Arab Spring in the Middle East. “Structure” was transformed. Time will tell what comes with this cycle.
