Jan 2021 Wk2 | (1/3-1/9)
Sunday, January 3 | The Sun’s Day!
· Get real – Today’s Moon spends most of the day in the early degrees of Virgo and has a particularly keen ability to find where things aren’t up to snuff. We may find that whether we embody this energy, or we meet it in others, compared to the 2021 kick off, today tends towards a bit more dour and dosed in reality. The very good storyline here is that a dose of reality helps us to be sure we are on the right track towards what we are looking to accomplish.
· Echo – Venus crosses the degree of the 12/14/20 Solar Eclipse today. Be on the lookout for its message’s synchronistic resurgence today and tomorrow, particularly relating to relationships, women, women’s health and the stock market.
Monday, January 4 | The Moon’s Day!
Action – Today, Mars arrives at the long-awaited degree where his unusually extended retrograde last year began, the last degree of Aries. This is an echo of a time, give or take a couple days on either side. Stories associated with this Mars retrograde process (think back to last July through now) and key chapters in those times come back full circle.
Think back over the last six months and all the ground Mars has covered and backtracked and then re-covered during this time. All the while in his homeland of Aries, our war-maker Mars was basically put in a time out in his own home. His effectivity dwindled, he stewed and he soured as he was forced to stay in one place and could no longer move forward as he was inclined. In the meantime, he faced off with the Malefics, Saturn and Pluto challenging him during the time of his disrepair.
Now, as the planet which represents forward moving, clearing a new way and division is at the final hurdle – we are likely to find that we too feel that the last milestone is now in front of us and we have been through enough already that we know we can now make it. The end is in sight and the proverbial horses are jumping up and down to get out of the gate. We may tend to see this playing out in a mundane sense by way of unusual accidents and explosions, or otherwise martial behavior. We can grab a hold of this productively for ourselves by giving it space in our physical energy investments and activities we plan to engage ourselves with on the horizon.
· Powerful communication – Mercury conjoins Pluto today in Capricorn and together, they bring us dialogue, exchanges and thoughts that elicit darkened conversations, information about the illicit, things that have been hidden or otherwise covered up and not known, meetings and conversations with those in power/about power. Our minds may tend towards the dark, loss, obliteration and obsession under this aspect. Give yourself a little extra space in this regard should you catch yourself in a darkened rabbit hole today.
· Unsettled nerves – The Moon moves through Virgo today and accentuates the day’s mood of feeling tense, on edge and needing to know all the details. We are primed to dive in and pick something apart so that we can know it better.
Tuesday, January 5 | The day of Mars!
· Checking in – The Moon travels through early Libra today and we are inclined towards checking in with one another and connecting. Yesterday, some harsh words may have been said or otherwise, revealed. Today we are likely to find that “we” want to reach out and see if “we” are okay.
· Moving fast – Mars gallops across the last degree of Aries today, free of the retrograde clutch. He has one degree, in his native fiery homeland and he is out to the make best of it. Look for today to move fast. We will tend to feel like it’s now or never and it has to all be started now. Let’s get things moving. These new beginnings are likely to come to an abrupt halt, so don’t settle in for a long trot just yet.
Wednesday, January 6 | Mercury’s Day!
· Reality check – Under today’s last quarter moon in the middle degrees of Libra, we come to the point in the road where we look back since the last new moon (12/14 solar eclipse in Sagittarius) evaluate and decide; keep it going, or tear it all down and start over? Last quarter moons are pivot points we encounter each month amid the moon’s cycle. We advocate under a last quarter moon, we rebel, we experience tension and strategic vision, empowerment and motivation to make change and also, the wisdom of knowing when to accept what is before us.
· Frustration – After one last hurrah in Aries, Mars drops into his debility in Taurus and comes to an abrupt halt. Here, our warrior, after having to endure a sidelining timeout in his own home for the last six months, then get some taste of movement to the next day, come to a quick slow down and loss of resources. In Taurus, our famed warrior, our motivation, the planetary storyteller of our get up and go…well, he got up and went…and to a great degree, took our forward momentum with him. Things that seemed to be off and running slow down, or stall out. Tempers will seethe and simmer.
Productively, it’s the best possible time to start weightlifting, kickboxing, martial arts. Mars in Taurus isn’t the stringy light-footed boxer, or the well-sculpted, almost-artful looking athlete in the room; but a Mars in Taurus can summon the strength of ten gods when needed. Mars in Taurus is anger with a lack of productive channeling. Blunt aggression, channeled productively (punching bags, willing opponents, heavy weights, etc) are fantastic outlets for our personal experience with the stalled-out warrior through early March. Recall, while here, Mars will be overcome at first by challenges from Saturn, then Jupiter. Then, volatility escalates around January 20-22 as Mars, the Moon and Black Moon Lilith conjoin Uranus in Taurus. Mark these dates on your calendar now and steer clear of things that go boom during this time.
Thursday, January 7 | Jupiter’s Day!
· Gear-grinding – The Moon enters its debility, Scorpio today and immediately encounters challenges by opposing Mars in Taurus, then squaring Saturn and then Jupiter in Aquarius. At best, it’s a busy day. Productively, today is an outlet for strategy and roadmapping. Sometimes we need to needle and prod. Today is a good day for that. It’s also primed for a bit of sleuthing and uncovering; particularly of opponents, aggressors, those in power. Our bladders tend to weaken a bit when the Moon is in Scorpio. Enjoy an extra glass of cranberry juice today for good measure.
Friday, January 8 | The Day of Venus!
· Leadership – Venus enters Capricorn today and crispens up her need for connection, her displays of affection and what she craves and seeks. We take on a sharper image, a more solid ground for our decision-making and debating. Our need for connection reframes with a tendency towards looking for stability and upward mobility; success. Venus is fairly well-supported here. Business, and/or personal life-decisions and long-term planning take the forefront and gain resources, while Venus enchants the Sea-Goat’s rocky landscape. Look for the stock market and altcoin (ie, Bitcoin) to be widespread in news reports.
· Social Circles – Mercury enters Aquarius today and a new cycle begins with messages and sharing of information. Later this month our winged messenger will turn retrograde in this same sign so keep an ear out for what comes to your attention today and tomorrow in particular. Likely it relates to the upcoming retrograde. Something that needs to be re-done, re-evaluated, re-discussed. Mercury entering Aquarius will immediately challenge Mars in Taurus, then meet up with Saturn and then Jupiter and again radicalize by challenge with Uranus later in the month under the retrograde journey. Aquarius is a community, groups, teams, social sphere, technology, invention-minded sign. Mercury through here turns our minds and conversations towards these topics and in these spheres. As our communicator enters this sign, we return to work, return to school and return to our community from our holiday breaks. While under a pandemic this continues to not look like any January, back from the holidays we’ve experienced prior. Technology continues to be a key towards our social connections. During the upcoming retrograde, our technology may need a re-boot, a re-vamping, etc.
Saturday, January 9 | Saturn’s Day!
· Adventure Time – The Moon enters Sagittarius today and despite the ongoing Mars/Saturn challenge, we are feeling a need to travel, to adventure, for something different. The Moon here lifts us up as we lighten the weight we carry, under the darkening balsamic moon phase. We may find a strong urge towards our meditative, spiritual and otherwise philosophical practices today.
