Coming out of our corners
The thing that worries me sometimes, whenever you talk about creativity is because it can have this kind of feel that it's just nice you know or it's warm or, it's something pleasant. It's not; it's vital. It's the way we heal each other in singing our song in telling our story inviting you to say hey listen to me and I'll listen to you. The astrology of 2020 and into the near future of 2021 rings with good measures in creativity. While this current year has yielded wide-ranging difficulties and challenges across our mundane and individual experiences, even from my little hilltop - I can see the even greater amounts of creativity it has woven in during this same time. The planets signal this same storyline.
For most of 2020 and on into 2021, the North Node (Dragon's Head) travels through Gemini. The North Node is a devourer, rarely satiated it seeks and seeks. In Gemini, the seeking turns creative, it turns towards neighborhoods, it turns to clever and it turns to learning and socializing within an arm's reach. The Dragon's seeking leads us down the path of finding more ways we can bring its devouring hunt into our daily lives and in so doing, our whole lifepath changes. Almost restless and full of a need for more, we are prompted towards curiosity, to needing to learn, to being in our local community and taking on the lightness of our youth once again.
The Gemini backdrop reminds us we are all students, beginners, and takes us back to when we had freshly wide eyes and an innate wonder about the world right in our own backyard.
Because the North Node is a polarity axis, its counterpart, the South Node (Dragon's Tail) has been moving through Gemini's polarity during this same time; Sagittarius.
Much like a real, or imagined, Dragon - while it scours the land and intentionally seeks its treasured pearls with its fire-breathing head, its tail whips mindlessly erasing, breaking and removing from our lives. Where the head (North Node) wants more, the tail (South Node) is generally, "less." At least, less in the physical and instead tends to take on a purging, or becoming spiritual quality.
In the backdrop of Sagittarius, the South Node helps us work our way to erasing mindsets, philosophies, religions and other belief methodologies that no longer work for us. The South Node in Sagittarius is A+ for helping us usher out the old stories and habits we've told ourselves for far too long - stories about ourself and others. Mostly, these stories are for self-preservation, for our perceived safety and out of generational and community-fed traditions. In one way or another, these stories are getting a close examination and become ripped from our clutches.
Who are we without them? Maybe, we've been afraid, caught up in habit, in self-preservation and in "the busy" and through the Saturnian slow down of 2020, we were forced to meet ourselves and found we were a little taken aback by the grind we had gotten ourselves into. Maybe the hero’s role we thought we embodied was really not the case, maybe just because we had always done this or that, we find that life goes on fairly nicely without it and so on.
For many of us, 2020 has brought the inspiration of Virgil twitching in our ear; "Live." Myself included. And for me, and I suspect for many "Live" is synonymous with "create." It's lifting our heads up and critically evaluating our energy investments and being brave enough to follow the muse tugging at your shirt, to shine a light on and call out abuse and inequality, and even to turn your front yard into a hearty vegetable garden and so much more.
The stars in their storytelling, remind us that we too are creators. And in those lived experiences of creating space, creating art, creating love, creating change, creating fairness - that's where we touch in with the grit of our life force energy and feel our aliveness. The Dragon's Head roars, compelling us out to hunt for these pearls.
Gemini rules over our hands, our minds and our lungs. The future (North Node) is very present to us now by the works of our own hands, the labored breath of an advocate's rallying and in "The Fool's" wide-eyed, open mind.
The North Node continues its journey in Gemini through most of 2021. Grab hold of this fresh air while you can and in your own likeness, create. In these spaces where we honor our own spirit, will, authenticity and intrinsic pulls we at the same time, make space for others to do just the same. One by one, creating new stories to tell about our strength, our goodness, our generosity and our ability to simply sit with ourselves, unfettered by the expectations of others.
