First Quarter moon
*1st Quarter Moon* La Luna arrives at her monthly crisis of consciousness as she enters into her 1st separating square from the Sun at the New Moon on 8/2. Today, at 18-19 Scorpio she looks back to the Sun in square. Squares are roadblocks, tests, challenges. What begins each month at the new moon, is first tested at the opening square. The opening square is our opportunity to review what is occurring, does it serve us properly? Should we change it up? Do we continue the course? The 1st square provides us the opportunity to see this. In traditional astrology, the Moon is in her fall in Scorpio – she can’t effectively manifest her energy. We may find the Sun in Leo has the upper hand during this square. We may experience insecurity, and an inability to trust in others and as a result, we may want to hide away. Where will it all lead to? The Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse on 8/18 at 25-26 Aquarius/Leo. There, the culmination occurs. The truth is revealed, the light is shone. Look to the houses of Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius for clues on how this story line is playing out for you.
*Mercury enters shadow rx* Mercury, our messenger and thinker and ruler over all things technological enters the land of his upcoming retrograde today at 14 Virgo. From here through 8/30 – Mercury will move forward, but end his run at 29 Virgo as he conjuncts Jupiter and Venus. Then, the threesome part ways and Mercury falls all the way back to 14 Virgo again. As Mercury enters this shadowy land, communications, messages and our interactions with technology might get a little funky. Mercury enters this land trining Pluto, the lord of Hades. The overtone of this entire Mercury Rx process will be flavored with deep, dark transformation – themes about power/control, something hidden being surfaced.
*Saturn* Saturn, our authoritarian, task master, and helper to us to make it in the physical world (work, go to school, get a job, take care of yourself, etc) continues to slow in his station and on 8/12 stops. Remember, planets are strongest when they are changing speeds and directions. Saturn stops at 9 Sagittarius. This will be a very important place for all of August. Find it in your chart and look over at 9 Gemini and to either side, 9 Virgo and 9 Pisces. Anything in any of those spots? If so – Saturn will be sure to influence your journey. How could this manifest productively? Feeling stronger, able to weight lift, losing weight, getting rid of excess junk, cleaning out, organizing, establishing a routine, structure, order, rules, working hard, straightening up.
*Venus* Venus, our lady love, she who gives us our sense of wholeness, beauty and self-love… Venus is about to run through a gauntlet of sorts. She is squaring Mars and will exactly square Saturn on 8/12. Venus operates best when she can be in her flow, express love, receive love. Venus connecting with Saturn in any respect often translates into judgment and difficulty. Then, 8/14 Venus opposes Neptune – perhaps some compassion, or perhaps some confusion. Followed quickly on 8/15 by her conjunction with North Node, fate, karma, our future self and immediately after on 8/16 Venus trines Pluto, the Lord of Hades and meets some form of deep transformation. Don’t be frightened 🙂 This has lots of wonderful energy to offer. What does Venus mean to you? Venus rules Taurus and Libra. What happens to Venus, affects those houses in our charts. What does 9 Virgo/Sagittarius (and Gemini/Pisces by square) mean to you? This is where all the action is. This is where we will be challenged and feel this pressure. Big days of Starry Wonder we are moving through. The intensity is palpable here on Crow Hill. 9 Virgo is my health house – yep, craziness there… 9 Sagittarius is exactly my natal Neptune, which rules my Ascendant (physical body and personality and new experiences) – yep, big happenings there…. 9 Gemini is almost the exact midpoint between my natal Sun and Moon (it’s actually 6 Gemini, so close enough) and yep – current events are pulling in both of those energies and 9 Pisces conjuncts my natal Ascendant (already covered under Neptune).
