Oct 2020 | Wk4 (10/18-10/24)
On Sunday, 10/18 - We spend the day under a dynamic astrological sky. While there are often transiting aspects waxing, perfecting and waning to some degree each day, today this occurs with planets whose impacts are more readily felt and immediately accessible to us. Today is an active day.
The heavy hitter is the Mars/Jupiter square connecting the initiating, getting things started Cardinal signs of Aries and Capricorn. While Mars is at home in Aries, he is retrograde and particularly disgruntled with not being able to move forward in his own homeland. Here, he has the tendency to make war at home and with himself. Meanwhile, Jupiter - our planetary storyteller of expansion, growing bigger and "more" overcomes Mars by square today as the aspect perfects. This aspect has the mundane propensity for explosions, blowing up and the like. Don't play with matches today kids. In our personal lives, we may have lived experiences that mirror this explosive nature, but also - the experiences may be a bit more practical in application. Around the house, this is a great aspect to do some "warring" (hard work) and allow things to multiply, or do make something bigger. Setting up snow fences, tearing down old garden growth to prep for spring planting, working on machinery that in turn takes care of us (getting snowplows ready, tractors tuned up).
This Mars/Jupiter aspect hits our placements in Aries, Capricorn, Cancer, Libra and Scorpio, Pisces and Sagittarius with greatest impact.
I can't ever say it enough. Astrology is always in context. There's so many practical applications to what may otherwise sound like scary and nail-biting aspects. Knowing our chart helps us catch the vibe when it's just right for us and maximize its potential, as best we can. Sometimes, there's circumstances out of our control and capacity and we are subject to it during the encounter. But often, we can discern its possibilities and see if what we need to get done, can hitch a ride to it and get done with the best potential possible. Recall, it isn't the planets that actually cause this or that to happen. They are the storytellers, the omens, the signals. The planets, for those who pay attention, have stories to tell and mirror for us. By knowing their astronomical movements, we can get helpful look-aheads and better position ourselves, our actions for the happenings ahead. It isn't about avoiding all the pitfalls. How boring of a ride if there weren't any. How would we ever learn what we are made of if everything were easy. Nature signals this to us every day. In one respect, a wildfire is utterly devastating and damaging and yet in another, it is the fire's destructive heat that rekindles new growth and stronger trees.
Yeesh, a bit of an elongated thought there. Did I mention that Jupiter is also a storyteller of philosophy, religion and plain old fashioned big thoughts? Today, this aspect finds Jupiter squaring my natal Jupiter. I'm definitely waxing philosophical.
Back to the happenings on Sunday, 10/17. We also have the Venus/Neptune opposition perfecting. This aspect is in stark contrast to the Mars/Jupiter square. Venus in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces eyeing each other up is a see-saw of soupy, hazy, romantic perfection and overly anxious urges to make everything perfect. This aspect is just perfect for taking a sauntering walk out in Nature (Virgo/earth) and enjoying all its inherent beauty (Neptune/Pisces) and creativity.
This aspect most impacts Virgo, Pisces and Taurus and Libra placements, then Gemini and Sagittarius.
Lastly, the Mercury retrograde/Uranus opposition again kicks up (leftover from Saturday evening) as our messenger once again trips past Uranus and gets zapped with shock and awe. While the Moon lit this aspect up Saturday evening, we may find we still have a few remnants of the unexpected flitting into our day today.
This aspect most impacts Scorpio, Taurus, Gemini, Virgo and then Leo and Aquarius placements.
The Moon's Day, Monday October 19th - We remain within the realm of the Mercury/Uranus opposition, Mars/Jupiter square and Venus/Neptune opposition all as described under 10/18's entry. What changes dramatically today is the Moon. The Moon, previously had been traveling through Scorpio, the sign of her debility. Today, on her day of the week, the Moon enters Sagittarius and our mood is lifted. The Moon continues to wax into her crescent phase and begins eeking out a new life, a new truth, a new revelation. Something begins to take baby steps towards opening and unfurling today. We are inclined towards lightening up, brainstorming, being more open than we had been the last few days.
This aspect most impacts, Cancer, Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo and Pisces placements.
On Mars' Day, Tuesday, October 20th - The main storyline is the square between Venus in Virgo and the Moon in Sagittarius, while the Moon sits on the Dragon's tail (the South Node). We are likely to experience a loss, a physical cleaning or clearing out. We may tend towards feeling unsettled in relationships and with other women. This climax today is likely to result in a fairly substantial reshuffling of things by the day's end. Something that looked perfect on the outside has turned out to be far too many warts on the inside to keep having to cover up and with one swipe of the dragon's tail, we let it go - both our need to make appearances look perfect and our attachment for the acceptance of others because of it.
A practical application? Stop limiting yourself about your looks/appearance/abilities/intelligence. Give it up to flame (Sagittarius) today and let it go. Lean on your spiritual toolbox (South Node) and open your mind (Sagittarius) to reframe your beliefs (Sagittarius) about the devil in the details (Venus in Virgo), because at the end of the day - you are your own worst enemy (Moon square Venus). Give yourself a little space to let go and take in the grace that you deserve.
This aspect most impacts, Cancer, Virgo, Sagittarius, Taurus, Libra, and Pisces and Gemini placements.
Wednesday, October 21st - The Moon enters her debility in Capricorn and we tend towards the serious and mundane. Of note, for folks born around the same time I was (1975), the Sun sits on our natal Uranus (wildcard) today. The sun's shine turns on the parts of us that seek the untamed and the unusual. Enjoy.
Thor's Day, October 22nd - Today is a jam packed day of astrological happenings and intensity. The Sun enters Scorpio today and joins Mercury in the 1st decan of Scorpio. Here, the Sun reveals secrets. The sun's shine puts a spotlight on little nuggets which were otherwise tucked away from our knowing. Skeletons come to life.
Also today, the Moon in Capricorn trips up over malefics Mars, Pluto and Saturn today. It's going to be a busy day and we're going to meet or become the malefics throughout our journey through it.
These aspects today most impact, Scorpio, Gemini, Virgo, Cancer, Capricorn, Aries and Libra.
Friday, Venus' Day, October 23rd - Today is a helpfully productive day to connect with those in power, authority, or are otherwise older and "wiser." Venus and Saturn connect within an earth-based trine and stabilization follows. We may also tend to hear of relationships coming together, confirming their commitments and the like.
Otherwise, the Moon reaches her 1st quarter mark at 1 degree Aquarius today. Let's be on the lookout for an echo we hear today that catches our ears. 1 degree Aquarius is monumentally significant and within this degree our generational experience is going to soon change (I'll be sharing more on this soon). I'll be quite interested to hear what gets highlighted today.
I'm wondering if in part, a high profile (Saturn in Capricorn) woman (Venus in Virgo) comes to a significant forefront today that may play a prominent role in a generational change (1 Aquarius).
Saturn's Day, Saturday, October 24th - The Moon is largely unscathed today, save for a sextile to Mars. Later at night, the Moon connects with the North Node productively by trine.
Also today, the Sun/Mercury retrograde conjunction waxes closer in early Scorpio. We may tend towards feeling a little burnt out and overloaded mentally. Too close to the Sun to be visible, Mercury moves into the invisible realms. Sun/Mercury conjunctions mark the halfway point in the Mercury retrograde cycle. Usually, these moments ring with the hallmarks of the retrograde cycle. Recall, this one stations direct on election day. Let's see what happens in the news today. As the two become closer conjoined over the late evening and into Sunday - Mercury finds a treasure and an important message or information is revealed.
Today's aspects are most prominent for Cancer, Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo, Gemini and Virgo placements.
