OCT 2020 | wk2 (10/4-10/10)

Week 2 opens up as the Moon enters Taurus and on 10/4 conjoins Uranus in her exaltation; Taurus. Together, the pair oppose Mercury in Scorpio, nearing the end of its forward movement preparing to retrograde. The Moon, continuing to travel in Taurus through 10/5, connects with Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in quick succession.

This is a busy Moon. Taurus and busy are antithetical in nature. Taurus is inclined to move at its own speed, whatever may feel natural. But over these pair of days early in the week, the Moon, while in her exaltation where she expects to be honored and held up on high, is ushered around by all the planetary connections.

The Moon in Taurus is the monthly milemarker reminding us to take care of our needs. Taurus calls out from each of our senses and prompts us to satisfy them. Take the time to take it all in. It helps to satiate the Moon while she travels through this landscape and yield a much-needing grounding force amid this year that is 2020.

So, to might we find we feel that we just want to sit down and relax but there's a number of things calling our attention. Within these nagging bits, we are likely to find a message, a circumstance that shocks and surprises us. We'll tend to find this "message" revisited over the next month as it is tied in to the Mercury retrograde. Occurring within the context of Scorpio, classic themes of secrets, power plays and hushed up information spills out.

By nightfall 10/5, the Moon still in Taurus conjoins famed fixed star, Algol while the South Node conjoins the Midheaven in Sagittarius overhead. The demon star's eye blinks while we get lost in its gaze not noticing the Dragon's tail (South Node) emptying out the Midheaven and wiping a slate clean regarding public perceptions and public persona.

Waking up 10/6 the Moon enters Gemini and will ring the bell of one of the soon-coming eclipse points. Look for highlighted and unusual events and information to come to light today. Likely, they yield deeper stories regarding what the upcoming eclipses series holds for you and all of us in the World at large. Worth noting, Gemini is of particular highlight in the natal chart of the United States. While the US is often "particularly highlighted" we may find on days when Gemini or its ruler, Mercury are in the forefront focus that there is more emphasis and events.

For most of us, when the Moon travels through Gemini we lighten up from the heaviness in Taurus and flit around a bit more. The classic hallmarks are lively conversations, curious explorations and a need for friendship and social engagements but nothing overly deep. A little bit of this and a little bit of that will all do just perfect when the Moon travels Gemini.

The waxing Mercury/Uranus opposition perfects on 10/7 and brings out climactic and unexpected information, potentially even information that was intentionally hidden or previously covered up. Adding to this mystery, during this same day - the Moon still in Gemini conjoins the North Node. This Moon, still in its disseminating phase meeting the Dragon's Head in the sign of information sharing is in full disclosure mode. A disseminating moon is a sharing moon by nature. While conjoined the North Node, the Dragon has unsatiable hungering need for information. While crossing over this point, the Moon activates this. The storyline is intricate today as Mercury, the ruler of this Moon/North Node conjunction exactly opposes Uranus. Today is the day to plan for the proverbial "expect the unexpected."

Mercury and Uranus will tangle again at this degree later in October during Mercury's retrograde.

Mercury also reflects the storyline of certain other things and experiences, within context. Mercury is associated with travel and getting out and about around town, siblings, our mind/brains.

Following the shock and awe of Wednesday, Thursday, 10/8 brings to climax an aspect which has been waxing all week. Mars in Aries and retrograde squares off against Pluto, freshly turned direct, in Capricorn. Here, interactions which have been building reach a critical peak once again. The struggle between our will and unyielding forces. This storyline is not yet complete as Mars has to fall back yet more to come back around and tangle yet once again. Pluto, being most distant, is largely out of sight and out of mind astrologically, until it is activated by transits within close exactitude. Thursday, 10/8 is the on switch for our entanglement with the Lord of obsession, wrath and power. Mars, still retrograde, remains weakened. Our warrior, usually feeling quite confident raging in his homeland, is weak, sick, having to retrace his steps and fall backwards during this retrograde.

Dialing this and any astrological activity in within context of our own chart helps us to refine its storyline and take advantage where possible.

For example, Mars retrograde square Pluto could be driving to visit some secret, hidden, tucked away "power" place. Retrogrades are classic storylines of the past, people or memories from the past coming back in to play (think Mars types this time). Also, Mars is cars and other machinery. Car trouble, car purchases, machinery needing to be installed, fixed, evaluated. All of these could fit within the context of the astrological mirroring. There's always a wider story that all of us can observe and connect to, then within the details are our private live-chapters tailored just to our experience.

The 3rd quarter Moon in Cancer closes out Week 2 on 10/10. The Moon rules Cancer and is fairly sensitive to any activity when highlighted. While in Cancer, the Moon instinctually seeks safety and security. This Moon wants to pull all of its special people and things into one close circle and keep them all protected. As we are inclined towards this tendency during this transit, the Moon meets with the Sun in a challenging square. At 3rd quarter, the Moon faces off with the Sun and reaches a crisis point. Something is falling apart, or coming together, or is otherwise needing to be evaluated. The Moon in Cancer at this point is looking back at the last lunar cycle its traveled and is in some way, confronted with the need to look back and evaluate - should it remain, or should it be changed. In Cancer, the themes tend to be raised about home, family, security, safety and emotions.

Often, it is only when we face challenges or crisis points that we get the fresh eyes to see what we truly have in front of us. Finally seeing its beauty we can find our acceptance and happiness with it, or we can reach out to strike up change for what we can withstand no longer.

Either way, in Cancer it is an emotional experience.
